Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Hearing on Texas Lawsuit Over Water Sale Ban is Canceled
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Today's hearing on a lawsuit by a Texas water district over Oklahoma's ban on selling water out-of-state is being canceled.
There was no immediate reason given for canceling the hearing that was scheduled before federal Judge Joe Heaton.
The Tarrant Regional Water District in north-central Texas filed the lawsuit against the state on January eleventh saying the ban on out-of-state water sales violates the federal commerce clause.
The lawsuit names the Oklahoma Water Resources Board and the Oklahoma Water Conservation Storage Commission.
The Tarrant Regional Water District has more than a million-and-a-half customers which include residents of Fort Worth and Arlington.
