Thursday, June 22, 2006 House Passes Historic Tax Cut
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) (excerpt) The Oklahoma House passed the largest tax cut in state history today as lawmakers reconvened a special session to finish work on the state budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1st.
The tax cut package passed the same day the Senate approved a bill that includes a 3-thousand dollar across-the-board pay raise for public school teachers.
The raises will bring Oklahoma teacher salaries close to the regional average.
The raise is more than twice as large as Henry originally proposed.
